Virtual Ethnography?

Had anyone heard of this Second Life community online?

It would be interesting to do an ethnography of "virtual" communities! How strange!!!

I have heard of Second Life. It's quite fascinating... these people have a completely separate life than their "real" one and some even prefer to be in the virtual world.

There's a whole bunch of interesting online articles about it. I like this BusinessWeek slideshow that showcases the top (virtual) earners in Second Life...

I just came across this article when researching companies for this essay. I think it's a true testament to Second Life's validity as a research tool when Philips Design uses it to test new designs.
